...The Mongols!!

'Nowhere have they fixed dwelling-places, nor do they know where their next will be [J: Nowhere have they any 'lasting city'; and of 'the one to come' they have no knowledge (cf. Heb. 13:14)].'

William of Rubruck has really insightful knowledge on the traditions and ways of life of the Mongols.

From the quote above, it can be deduced that the Mongols were a nomadic tribe and they seem to have a go with the flow mentality, not having a clear strategy for the future.

The Mongols seem to place women in a higher place in society as there is mention of women leading the herd Ox's carrying their most prized possessions. Could this mean that the women knew how to defend themselves as well as the males? (female warriors?)

I find it interesting that besides being a nomadic tribe, the Mongols had a system of Governance when it came to punishment and having the law protect them to an extent when it came to capital punishment.

On a final note, it seems that they have some similarities to the Germanic people as they enjoy drinking, and also take very seriously the concept of dueling; 'you must know that when two men fight together no one dares interfere', which tells me that they are a people that value traits such as honor and justice.

Perhaps this was why they were able to conquer so much land!
